I believe that there’s hardly a right or wrong way to react to traumas. Sensitive times present tough decisions which require being handled with kid gloves.
Often times when a life altering event happens, we start to blame ourselves and think about the million and one things we could have done differently.
Truth is forgiving oneself is the first step towards healing and then communicating ones thoughts and feelings to someone you can confide in is the next. In all, time heals all wounds…somehow
Personally, I loved this film. A bit hesitant to watch initially but thought to try and wasn’t disappointed at all.
Synopsis:
Remi (Diana Childs) and Seyi (Kunle Remi) were subjected to a horrendously humiliating attack when Dennis Okafor (Eso Dike) in the company of his friend Emeka (Okey Uzoeshi) broke into their home and violated Remi.
This ugly event shattered their home, left their love life in stitches and threatened their marriage in more ways than one.
Frustrated and ridiculed further by Dennis himself months after the incident when the couple were already trying to heal, Remi would then take laws into his own hands.
The rest of the movie sees a trial in court, a verdict, a test of love and a shöt at forgiveness. Will Remi find healing for her trauma? Will Seyi be able to come to terms with his own thoughts and bruised ego?
Why not sit back and find out how things unfold in this engaging drama. Not sure you’ll be needing some popcorn for this one cos I was fuming at Dennis. He was absolutely annoying and provocative.
My Take:
Personally, any movie that begins to give any indication of a person being råped, I often can’t stand it, quickly I’d fastforward that part and deal with the rest of the movie
Apart from the unnecessarily long duration, the title which I struggle to correlate with the plot of the movie and some wardrobe/costume, hair, makeup faults or flaws, this was absolutely worth the watch. It was educational too.
It highlights on how much faith people have lost in the Nigerian Police Force reason why Remi refused to report her abuser.
In my opinion, she should have at least listened to her husband’s suggestion of moving from that house to help with her traumas.
Verdict: 6/10
