SYNOPSIS: (MAY contain spoilers)

Chikasimma ‘Kasimma’ (Omeche Oko) will be 25 on her next birthday. Her aunty Abigail (Uche Jombo) believes there’s an ancestral curse on their family and would do anything within her means to make sure Kasimma finds a suitor and gets married before she clocks 25. This is in order to avert the curse.

MY TAKE:
She did it again!

At this point, I think it is safe to say Omeche has successfully made it to the list of my favourite actresses. Effortless for how she delivers these comic roles; natural how her body language aligns with her facial expressions allowing her lines flow in a way that makes you forget it’s a movie…girl’s good, no cap!

In fact, all the actors here delivered crisp! I won’t forgive myself if I fail to mention the character of Ikenna ‘IK’ as Kasimma’s landlord played by Steve Onu. The guy is Igbotically hilarious.

Should we talk about his onscreen chemistry with Uche Jombo? Ok now I need a full blown movie with just them two cos I couldn’t get enough of them here. They were a perfect pair

One regret I have however is that as the movie progressed, it felt like it couldn’t decide which way it was headed as per being just a drama or comedy or both. It was consequently a bit of a bore until the third act when it picked up and became back to back a pack of rib cracking scenes till the very end. I wish the movie had the same tempo or momentum from the starting scenes.

Conclusively, this was quite a decent watch and interesting too. Particularly love the message passed here in a very subtle yet strong manner reiterating that some age-long beliefs held by some families are only but mere superstitions and not necessarily a yardstick for judgment.

Also that it is never too late to find true love and that when the time is right, your man would come. I love how Kasimma kept expressing that she knows what she wants but for the love for her aunty is willing to sacrifice or compromise. These themes were explored brilliantly here. I had a good laugh watching this.
