With screenplay by Anwuri Ijenebe, directed by Jide JBLAZE Oyegbile, produced by Lawrita Obioha & Bolaji Ogunmola (also starring as Bami) and executively produced by Bolaji Ogunmola herself, this film titled A FOREVER WITH NUMBERED DAYS is currently streaming on the latter;s Youtube Channel with same name.
Synopsis:
Bami Bartel (Bolaji Ogunmola) is a renowned actress declared dead following a kidnapping-gone-wrong. Three years later, miraculously she returns. Her fiance Uvo (Deyemi Okanlawon) is about to marry her best friend April (played by Teniola Aladese) in a court wedding.
MY TAKE:
This drama with a duration of 1hour 49minutes titled A FOREVER WITH NUMBERED DAYS attempts to highlight friendship, marriage, loss, grief & guilt but struggles to establish these in its overall delivery. While the actors put up a beautiful performance, the story and its plot are however not compelling nor believable.
There are loopholes and disjointed parts that set a viewer like myself rewinding to see if I missed a part. Although the producer is one known for churning out amazing storylines in the past, this one fails to hit that mark as it does not in the least impress.
Not only is the script all over the place, the title is one that takes your head on a spin in an unpalatable way (one that can be hardly remembered). And as if it does not get any worse, in addition, there are some delulu lines that one cannot help but wonder what it is about. Pretty much like the more you look, the less you see, but in this case, make it the more you listen, the less you hear.
What in the world of romantic words are I WILL MARRY YOU YESTERDAY! as the other quips OH YOU ALREADY DID TOMORROW!? Or is it I WANTED TO COME BACK TO YOU YESTERDAY! with OH YOU CAME BACK TO ME TOMORROW! Just how delulu can a script get???
Maybe it is just me but those lines were not romantic at all. They were annoying. The movie started on a strong note packed with suspense and intrigue with viewers wondering what is going on or what would happen especially with the first scene. But instead of getting clarity, a viewer like myself is plunged into confusion which gradually crashed into a state of tastelessness. Should we say the writer lost focus or direction?
The part where Uvo is called to hospital that his fiancee had been involved in a ghastly accident which was meant to be a tool for a mid-plot twist ruined the entire movie in my opinion as it did not add up one tinee winee bit.
I think the writer may just have been as confused as they made the viewers. One minute, the doctor says it is nothing serious and that it is minor (which is contrary to what the caller said on the phone), the next he says she (Bami) has been in and out of coma for days (again contradicting the caller), and then next he says he worries for her mental health. Next Bami wakes up like nothing happened prior – no surprise as to how she got there. No visible mental health struggle in sight. They both go home like no one was missing for three years unless for some flash backs by Uvo which adds little or nothing to the already soured plot. How do you come back 3 SOLID YEARS LATER from WHEREVER and you are that upset? See! It did not make sense. The story was not developed properly.
Conclusion:
The imagery is vivid and crystal clear as per picture quality. Costuming, props & makeup are catchy. The background sound is cool and calm. Audio is good. The movie started well and ended in an unusual manner but the middle…the middle part of (which is the part that makes up the core of a movie) is bland and distasteful. The sequencing progressed into a bore and end gets you asking IS THAT ALL? Not that i was expecting much from this but the little hope i had was dashed as i was disappointed.
Verdict: 3/10
